Emergency Relief for Families in Afghanistan

On August 31, 2025 a 6.0 magnitude earthquake struck eastern Afghanistan, claiming more than 1,000 lives, and demolishing the homes of thousands more. Aftershocks continue to affect communities.

Overall, Afghanistan remains one of the world’s worst humanitarian crises. In 2025, an estimated 22.9 million people – nearly half of Afghanistan’s population – are projected to require humanitarian assistance.

IOM, our implementing partner has a long-term presence, and is committed to stay and deliver relief and assistance to displaced and returnee populations in Afghanistan as well as local communities.
